Votorantim for Childhood and Adolescence (VIA)

About

The Votorantim for Childhood and Adolescence program (VIA, for its initials in Portuguese) aims to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of children and adolescents.

Supported by the Federal Constitution of 1988 and the Child and Adolescent Statute of 1990, the program works with vulnerable or exploited children and adolescents, through the enhancement of prevention and care strategies promoted by key players within the Social Protection Network and the Rights Protection System in the towns where Votorantim operates.

Primary target

  • System of protection of rights and social protection network

Indirect target

  • Vulnerable or exploited children and adolescents

1. SUPPORT TO PROJECTS AGAINST THE VIOLATION OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT RIGHTS

The program works through the transfer of resources to the Municipal Funds for Children and Adolescents (Fumcad, for its initials in Portuguese), to support the technical training of the groups managing the projects and the empowerment of public policies in this area (Municipal Councils for the Rights of Children and Adolescents in partnership with the Social Assistance Office and/or with civil organizations).

2. EMPOWERMENT OF THE RIGHTS PROTECTION SYSTEM AND THE SOCIAL PROTECTION NETWORK

At the same time, the program supports the commitment of the population to protect and promote the rights of children and adolescents, culminating in the development of specific strategies for mitigating critical violations, such as child sexual exploitation within construction sites, child sexual abuse, child labor, early and unwanted pregnancy, etc.
